Kogoro, Conan, and Toto TV`s Kokuri visit hotel room 402 where spirit detective Hotta Gaito is staying where they witness the fleeing suspect and discover Hotta`s murdered body. Conan examines the room while recalling the events leading up to and immediately after they opened the door. Conan and Sera have already identified the killer.
