While Saori Kido and the others are searching for the Gold Cloth Mask, Pope Arles is also desparately seeking the Gold Cloth. Both sides suspect that the other has stolen the Cloth. Arles summons Gold Saint Milo in order to send him after the Bronze Saints. He discloses to Milo that there are actually 12 Gold Cloths. 13 years before, Gold Saint Aiolos betrayed the Sanctuary and was put to death.
