Conan, Ran, Heiji, and Kazuha have come to Yadori Village in Shizuoka to help excavate the buried treasure of Tokugawa. At night, Yasukatsu is murdered. On his back are scratches that look as though he was attacked by a wild beast, and Hajime panicks over the possibility of it being a Nue. The members of the group agree to wait in their rooms until the police arrive while Conan, Heiji, and Densuke keep an eye on them from the forest.
