Kogoro chases a robber armed with a gun to the roof of a building. The police eventually arrest the robber, but it soon becomes clear that the robber tossed the gun while fleeing. Kogoro, who already has a fear of heights, enters a state of shock after the fright of being shot at is compounded on top of it. Two days later, Sakaki, the leader of a futures trading group accused of fraud, is shot in the shoulder and leg by a person riding a motorcycle just after being released on bail. The gun used in the incident is none other than the one thrown away by the robber. Feeling responsible for the crime, Kogoro determines the identity of the individual who picked up the gun, but the case isn`t over yet...
